i just found out that jerry reed has been dead for a week.  with all the news i watch i don't know how i missed that til now.  i guess the storms took precedence over his death.  i read it in the newspaper.  they didn't even mention that he met my sisters backstage at the grand ole opry which i'm sure was the highlight of his carreer - LOL!  thats debbie on the left, wendythib in the middle, and diane on the right.

What a guy what a guy... We will all miss Jerry. KPFT had a nice tribute to him today and played some of his songs. Rest in peace Buddy.

He was one of my many CW faves.

He seems to be one of those entertainers that could have sat and had coffee tea or ? with you and made you feel at ease.

I would liked to have met him.

yo

My favorites were: "She got the Goldmine, I got the shaft" and "The Bird". That stuff he did with The Old Dogs was hysterical. The man was a laugh riot. The cameos he did on Alice were classic.

Rest in peace Jerry...When you're hot...you're hot.

May be cliche...but I STILL like "East bound & down, loaded up and truckin'...we gonna do what they say can't be done...gotta long way to go, and a short time to get there..we're east bound & down, quattro (prob wrong) Bandit One!"

(From the movie Smokey & the Bandit, for all you youngun's out there.)

I loved Jerry Reed. I grew up on Smokey and the Bandit and later listened to much of his music. He was mostly known as being a funnyman and having a great personality, but he was an awesome guitar player. He had an amazing finger-picking technique that I can't even begin to immitate and I wish the wider listening audience would have been aware of that. Jerry will be missed.
