I must admit that I'm not an avid AI watcher.  However, tonight I happened upon the program and sat down to watch.  David Cook is incredible.  Anyone who talks trash on him should be ashamed.  While I don't know all that much about him personally, just from tonights performance, he ROCKED the stage!  I hope that he goes on and wins this competition.

Just curious as to how many watched/are watching the program on PBS titled "Carrier" this week about Navy Aircraft Carrier USS Nimitz?  I have been watching it, and so far, am fairly pleased with it.  I have learned some things that I wasn't familiar with, didn't know, and saw parts of a ship I didn't get the chance to before.  For the most part, the Nimitz isn't much different than the might G Dub that my husband is a part of.

I have to admit though, I am a bit disappointed that there was so much coverage about aviation and aircraft.  I realize that these ships are floating runways, and aircraft carriers are mainly about aviation.  And if it were not for the fact for me having a direct connection, perhaps I would know no different.  I just thought there would be more coverage about other shops/departments, and so on.  I am enjoying the program though, and plan on purchasing the entire set as my children don't get to stay up that late to watch it.

I hope you have had a chance to see it.  I do think that PBS will re play it.  So, if you've missed it, please check your local listings and watch the program.

If you've been watching, please weigh in your comments!  I'd love to hear what you think!

I recently watched the movie Finding John Christmas.  For several years now, my niece has watched this every Christmas season, and I either miss it completely, or get in on the movie somewhere after it has started.  So, I went to ebay and found it.  However...the only way I could purchase it was via cdv (compact disc video)  So my dilemma...I've never purchased anything, nor watched a movie this way.  I purchased it for my niece for Christmas, and it is my hope that the description is accurate, it said that this will work in dvd players and computers.  Either way, I just hope it works.  I would have preferred DVD or even VHS for that matter, she just loves the movie and would watch it over and over.

Now, I'm asking you, my fellow bloggers, have you had any experiences with cdv?  Any feedback will be much appreciated!

Thank You SanDiego 711 for the info on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives.  I was watching it just a while ago, and much to my amazement, I hear the host mention Paola, KS.  I must admit I was a little pre-occupied until then.  Of course, I immediately tuned in and gave the TV my total attention.  How interesting to be watching this show for the first time, and voila a small town near me is being featured.  The BBQ Shack was the name of the place.  My family of course enjoys BBQ and now has a place we must venture out to when dad comes back for the Holidays.  So, everyone, tune in and catch an episode, you never know what you might run into.  And the next time you are bored with the hum drum go out to eat question...."where are we going?"  Why not hop on the highway and head to Paola.  I plan on doing so when our Sailor comes back.  I will leave my review when we get back from our dining experience, but as I said, it will be late December!  Have a great week ahead everyone!

Questions of the Day......

1. Where will you spend your retirement days?  Will you move somewhere sunny and dry?

2. What is the best "type" of place to eat/dine?

I wanna be a snowbird (I think that's what they call them) LOL

To SanDiego 711:

There was no place to comment.....So here is mine!

I will mark down the diner, I love them.  Thank You for sharing.  I just returned 2 weeks ago from visiting my hubby in VA and all I wanted one morning was some eggs, wheat toast, home fries, and bacon, and coffee.  But in a military town, everything seems to be fast food related.  We are driving along, and happen upon a tiny, back out of the way place called "House of Eggs"  Being a little apprehensive, we pull in, and say a little prayer.  And wouldn't you know it, it was exactly what I wanted!  PERFECT!

So, moving to Surprise, AZ?  Do you need a daughter and 2 grandchildren to adopt for a year?  We have to be returned this time next year when our Sailor gets home.  But we'd love to help you re-locate!  Well, truth is....I LOVE ARIZONA  especially that area.  My aunt lived in Casa Grande, and I still visit her husband even after she passed 9 years ago.  We just don't go as often as I'd like.  Maybe That's what my Sailor and I'll do....Just what you and Elvis are doing!

As I read a post regarding Nick @ Night, it brought to mind the things that ABC Family has been showing.  My family used to really enjoy the programs that ABC Family would show, however, lately, it seems to us that ABC Family is falling victim to the disgust and filth that the rest of television has succumbed to.  Is it just my family that has recognized this?  Has anyone else found content of some of ABC Family's programs "not" family friendly?  I would really appreciate input on this.  Thank You, and I hope you all have a great upcoming weekend!

Knowing for the most part this is a personal choice and maybe some bloggers will tell me none of my business, I hesitated to post this question.  However, with the way the world is today, I was thinking about this family who is expecting their 17th child.  Does anyone know a family/families with a lot of children?  I only know one family personally that have 10 children.  A lot has changed for them over the years, and having discussed this with the wife, and posing the question "would you do this again?" The response was  that even as much as she loves each and every single child she has, and she would not trade or give any of her children up for anything, to go back and do all over again, things would have been done so very differently.  So I wanted to look to fellow bloggers/posters and find out what the opinions are.  With unemployment rates the way they are, the economy, and so many other factors, are these things that you personally would take into account before starting your family?  I love my 2 children so much, I know for myself and my husband, we thought so much about the said factors, and many other things before we started our family.  The world does not seem to be the way it used to be, and there are many different ways to look at that.  I hope to get positive feedback, as I said before, just curiosity.  And I also wonder about the purpose behind being on tv.  We really never know why these people are on tv.  Is it simply entertainment?  Is it showing that you can have many children and make it?  I know back in "the old days" families were much larger than they are today.  Sometimes I feel like these shows are making a spectacle out of these families.  I wish discovery health, and TLC had a place to blog.  I would love to blog about some of the shows they  televise about families they showcase.  Thank You for your positive feedback and comments.

So, it's time to change posts up a little, and with the return to school coming upon us, I am looking to fellow bloggers to find out if you have any secrets/advice/hints when it comes to back to school shopping.  We don't typically run out and spend hundreds of dollars on clothing as we typically don't have that kind of money, nor do we find it necessary to "keep up" however, kids grow, clothes wear out, etc...I have one entering middle school (11 year old daughter) and one entering High School (14 y/o son).  Another item we end up never being able to hit the nail on the head with is school supplies.  Enevitably, we buy what's stated on "the list" and there are things not listed we need, and/or items we buy we don't need.  Every school is different however, I find that asking around can be helpful as well.  So, if you are a seasoned shopper/parent/educator, I would love to take your ideas, and see if I can put them to use this year in order to be more prepared.  Thank You all for your help!  And I hope everyone has a successful school year ahead.  It seems to me I am reaching out there and asking a lot, but one more item I am seeking help with is that I volunteered with our middle school PTO and am in charge of friday fun nights.  Basically 4 fridays out of this school year, I will chair a committee to entertain 6-8 graders on a friday night.  One activity we do is a movie room, I would welcome any other activities that can be held inside that are acceptable for that age group.  We hold dances on other friday nights.  Thank You so much for your help again.  I appreciate all positive feedback!  The ability to reach out to fellow bloggers that I appreciate each and every time something comes up.  Being able to communicate with others outside the immediate circle within my community brings in a broad range of ideas.

After seeing madmugz pic of the turtle, I was compelled to share a story of a turtle I came across while driving down a country road in Franklin County Kansas.  A friend and I were cruising back to her place, and we both in sync said "What in the world is that up ahead?"  I slowed down, and stopped, having my camera in my purse at all times, I put the car in park, and we got out to investigate.  I got some neat pics of this very large turtle.  I do have one question however, if anyone is up on turtle facts, you might be able to help us out.  Upon approaching this creature, we were not real close, maybe a foot away from it, the turtle sprayed something from it's side at us.  Any ideas as to what that was?  We have our guesses....I look forward to responses!

If someone can also give me the way to insert a pic here, I can come back and post the pics I have.  Thank You!  I did change my avatar to one of the pics of the turtle I have.

I just have to wonder what is going to happen to The Price Is Right now that Bob is gone.  I am looking to fellow bloggers to get your outlook on this legacy.  Will the show go on?

Is anyone else watching the show?  I need your help.  They sent Christian home tonight, and I want to know if he is THE Christian Okoye(?SP) that played for the KC Chiefs in the early 90's.  It said that he was an ex NFL Football player.  HELP!!!!!!

Has anyone watched John & Kate Plus 8 on Discovery Health?  I watched for the first time tonight, and wow!  Those parents have a life of busy ahead of them.  I wish I could say I have seen the series from the beginning, however, tonight was my first time.  I was saddened to see that the twins who were turning 6 and John and Kate took them to celebrate in NYC for special time without the sextuplets were so whiney and acted so spoiled.  If someone has seen more of this program, and knows more I would really like more info.  I am not sure which twin it was, but after all the parents did for the girls, they were leaving the American Girl Shop, and she said to her mother that she ruined it and some other very naughty things.  Everyone has different parenting skills and expectations, but if that were my daughter......she would never have gotten away with her comments, being filmed or not.  Thank you for your thoughts and insight, as I said, I would like more info because I intend on watching more episodes.  I watch discovery health more than most other channels as there is so much on tv that is distasteful and disgusting.  You know when you tune into anything on Discovery, you will learn something or for the most part, be able to enjoy it, even if your child/children comes into the room.
