statueman's Blog

Last Post 12 hours Ago

Ok so I've been here in town visiting with family.  Tried to stay awake during the new Indiana Jones movie with a childhood friend.  Looked up an old girlfriend and got some letters I wrote 25 years ago.  (Man... talk about a troll...)  And have had many interesting moments with my father who suffers from Parkinsons.

I grew up in Alton for awhile... a few years here and a few years there.  I've have, bar none, more bad memories from here then any where else I've ever lived and I've lived in places not a few.  Folks around these parts seem to be so focused on race still to this day in a way that is evident in these blogs.   This focus on race is always blamed on the next guy or the other race person.  From what I've seen in these blogs and in some conversations some folks can hardly believe it when I tell them I'm conservative republican and that I support John Mc Cains bid for the presidency.  I cannot support Senator Obama, and I do like the man to be sure... but I have a problem with anyone who would actually lend any support to planned parenthood where 13 million abortions of African American children are reported by the Centers for Disease Control to have happened since 1979.  Also as a veteran I have much respect for Senator Mc Cains views on how we should be behaving as Americans especially when it comes to issues of torture.

But getting back to Senator Obama lately I've been trying... in vain it seems... to point out to the right wing nut jobs and ultra conservative "white" super christianites that they do the Republican party a disservice with the way they are criticizing Barack Obama.   In fact ... from my lite skinned african often mistaken for white American perspective I can see why most self respecting educated successful and yes "conservative" African Americans in this part of the country could in no way ever even consider joining what I think is the more enlightened political perspective for this countries future.  And that perspective on how to solve the problems facing this country that I think is more enlightened, more responsible and true to personal responsibilty over government interventions it the perspective of the Republican Party.

But back to 13 Million African American Abortions since 1979 and all the planned parenthood clinics in the ghetto's between the store front church's and the liquor stores.   To me that's an issue that makes Reverend Wrights incessantly played sound bite and now the new sound bites with the Priest preaching in his church seem insignificant.  And I'm sorry but I also don't think Universal heath care is a good idea either.  Spend money on health care by bolstering education across the board... from grammer to masters.

Anywho... I thought I might be a prophet but instead I'm just a prose man with a hope that we can indeed one day be open minded enough in this country to have an other than amer-anglo-euro president.  But it seems to me that in no uncertain terms the critics of Barack Obama are out of touch with the reality of the politically incorrect racist presentations of the conservative cause.  One would think that those with a valid perspective wouldn't do anything that might invalidate it in the eye's of those it might help the most.  Shame on you for being so short sighted... or perhaps the plain fact of the matter is that the people that care the most about the plight of  a segment of our population are the ones euthanizing it.

I believe in my country... I love my country but I reserve the right to critcize my country without condemning my country.  But I also see the need to respect and consider the perspectives of others on how to best handle the challenges we all facing as citizens the United States of America.  We have the best system of government the our world has ever seen...  but in some of our potential we lack resolve or the ability to agree on how best to proceed.  Reverend Wright has a perspective... Sean Hannity and Bill O'Rielly have a perspective... Hillary Clinton and Mike Huckabee have a perspective... Rush Limbaugh and Lou Dobbs have a perspective... but little ole blogger me Peter Skinner aka statueman I also have a perspective... and from my view unless the fringe elements of the republican party who are either closet racist or just willfully ignorant and illiterate in their so called political incorrectness don't learn to present their points of view with some degree apparent compassion then Senator Obama will have them  to thank during his State of the Union address.

From my perspective Senator John Mc Cain had the most qualified perspective to lead this country at this present moment in time.

So with that, I bid you Saint Lousians and surrounding areaites adieu.  If you're a democrate, take a republican to lunch.  If you're a republican... be sure to chew you're food well and don't talk with your mouth full and listen, listen, listen before you speak.... as you may actually have something valid to say once you've actually listened.  It's back to Los Angeles for me!  Where the issues are all in black, white, brown, yellow and bronze... Now theres a perspective!

Well as far as Alton Goes... Read the story of Elijah Lovejoy.

As far as Race and such here, all I know is that when I was in Highschool in St Chuck we had 1 Black student in the class.

Now where I live (alot farther out than St Chuck) I see so much diversiy it would make your head spin. (I mean all races) So as far as bad memories I try and leave those in the past and try to not let it taint the present. But hey I am just a Pirate speaking about Pirate things! ARRRGGHHH! ( I have only one eye and wear and eyepatch..just in case you thought I suddnely went off the deep end all of a sudden..for me it's really a gradual thing... a slow downward gradiant..)

typos, typos, typos

When I wrote it I was going to come back later and edit.

As far as not letting the past taint the present. When I came into town I went to look up an old friend who was recently diagnosed with cancer. I went by her family house and had to ask her mothers husband how I could get in touch with her. He told me that he didn't think that would be a good idea as her boyfriend "used" to be a grand dragon in the KKK. That brought back old feelings like a flood... needless to say.

I don't blame a whole nationality for anything. But feelings are feelings, perspectives are perspectives and my scars still taint and will always taint them both. Sometimes I think about going back to school for that journalism degree. And to me... I would think the only way to be fair and balanced would be to stay honest about why I'm coming from where I'm coming from ever consciouse of what I 'think' and what I 'know'.

Thanks Patch.

Well Journalism has it's own "taint" so to speeak. Teaching "fair and balanced" I think would be difficult. They woud have to teach you to take all emotion out of your decesions or thoughts...to think with the Brain instead of the heart..so to speak. Now this can be good in some sense but horrible in others. A good balance between the 2 is best..or a Checks and Balance system between the two. Like being afraid of the dark..it's not rational all the time..so it takes your brain to talk down your emotions. But without emotions there is no passion... and without passion I am not sure I would want to exist.

Lack of emotion IS an emotion, isn't it?
I watch children play, they don't see color. It is a learned behavior. Ignorance creates prejudice. To take any one characteristic and use it to hate, is ignorance.
Statueman, I am not pro abortion. I do not want the government to tell me, as a women, what my moral choices are. Here is what I have a problem with. What happens to all of those precious babies born to mothers that don't want them? They are not given up for adoption. They are victims. ALL DAY LONG, I watch the news and see children killing children. Why? I blame parents. These children didn't know a gun or drugs or anger and violence when concieved. It came to them after they were born.
Why is it wrong to teach personal responsibility to boys and girls, in hopes they learn to not get pregnant? When communities accept teen pregnancy, or just women having child after child, with no support or husband, what do they expect the outcome to be?

Welcome blogsiren... thankyou for commenting on my long blog. Ever notice how the shorter the blog the more the comments?

Ahhh.... quality over quantity here. I will get back to your question as right now I've posted a blog at myfoxla about Hillary's speech before she speaks to see if my poetic impression meter is working today. Check it out...

But I promise to think and answer if I can your very relevant question about the abortion issue.

Thanks again,
Peter

I plan on voting for McCain as well. Seems like this country wants to move towards Socialism, similar to our European friends. The problem with this idea, is the fact that Socialism has failed everywhere it has been tried. Obama can package his plan, and even give it a different name, but the fact of the matter is that its still Socialism!

I am not a racist, bigot, mean vindictive person, and yet still a Republican. Some of the most hateful comments/language actually comes from the far left. Talk about hateful, try reading some of their material! I believe in personal responsibility, less government, oil independence, and lower taxes. The left hates people like me. I am happy to talk with liberal Democrats, and will even listen to all their comments, but I am not shy about explaining the flaws of liberalism. I do speak my mind. A philosophy has to be built on logic, not feelings.

Jimbob, I respect your right to have your opinion. I do not hate anyone. I too believe in personal responsibility. To me this is not choosing a position. It is more about what can we do to change the continued abuse and ignorance of those that do not see their choices.
Please stop accusing the "left".
We are all responsible. I have made a choice to not "blame". It does matter. If we continue to conceive others as responsible for all of the issues we face, how can we heal?
You are a Christian. right? I am too. I will never believe or know more than anyone. My belief gives me the ability to let go, and to not judge. I surely would like to see life happen within in my perspective, but it isn't my position or job. I give it to God.

OK... for the first time in sometime I used the delete button to delete the religious conversation between jimbobbob and myself.

The point of this blog was to point out that many republican bloggers lack any sensitivity in their presentation of their conservative beliefs. Blame this on the left if you want but the truth is that if you are claiming a higher standard then you should be at least presenting the best possible patience and compassionion. Without that the Christian Conservative Republican movement is doomed to be ultimately blamed for the evils in this country.

Many claim goodness while presenting intolerance disguised as uncompromising morality. The said same will admit to being sinners without acknowledging what that sin is... and this because they do not see their intolerance as sin but as righteousness. Persecute their intolerance and you are persecuting their righteousness.

Your accusations are unfair and without merit!! I have never deleted any comment, and I have posted several blogs. Sorry, but I have lost a lot of respect for you as a person.

Please have the courage/integrity to post my comment!

That was an accurate statement, and I stand by it!! Thanks for posting it again! Have you read some of the left-wing blogs lately? My comments are validated and accurate!

Jimbob, I don't like labels. They are confining and prejudicial, yet apparently, some feel more comfortable using them to express themselves.
It is beyond me to understand your message. I do not define myself by my opinions, but if I was forced to, as I feel now, I am a conservative liberal. I am saying this to you. I do not hate anyone. EVER! Hate is wasted energy. I have forgiven people of heinous acts towards me. I have more joy in knowing there behavior will not destroy me or define me.
Sometimes, you confuse me.
We all have the same rights as you to say what we feel. I believe people may be more receptive of your opinions, if you would not use blanket statements. I know we all do it sometimes, but to accuse all liberals of hate is just wrong.

Statueman, your letting them get to you...
remember my blog on deleting. That really good blog that got deleted? HAHA
I specifically remember you stating you never delete. Never say never.
This blog is supported by Fox. A right wing organization. There are many who vent and write without merit to get to you. Read some of the ignorance right-moves puts on blogs.
I will probably delete again, and I feel I was valid to delete the ignorance written about me. Just let it go and go with it. I find it mostly fun and certainly validating. If you give some people enough space, they cannot help but show true colors.

It wasn't just jimbobbobs posts that I deleted but our whole scriptural conversation since it was nothing in it was relevant to the blog.

It's funny but now I'm watching Cuba Gooding Jr and Beyonce Knowles in "Fighting Temptations" and the last song in the movie is the chior at a chior competition entitled "I ain't good enough, but he still loves me." Love those chior movies... Sister Act movies too.

Anywho... I mention the movie because it reminds me to keep to the script. And argueing about scripture isn't something I want in my life.

Well, how do I get to myfoxla?
If you get a chance, go into my archives, I believe Feb 08. The post is "How can the right be so wrong?" It had 123 responses and I believe Jimbob and I got into it over the scripture issue. The post is basically about the "right" claiming their moral hierarchy. I think. I should be sleeping, but I am addicted to blogging....I think I need an intervention. LOL

You can also get to my blog by clicking on statueman at the top right... I use the same blog in all cities.

I think I read that blog of yours... not the comments. I know I commented on one of your older blogs did you see it? In settings I have it set to "email me when I get a comment".

Ok just read your blog on the right. I have had many of the same thoughts. I can see why it would get so many comments. I think the questions you raise are valid. I've always wanted to ask Dobson what those without families should focus on. I'm not to keen on the new fad christian doctrines that seemed based on a "Leave it to Beaver" mythology.

Anywho... glad to meet you blog siren. I like the way your mind works and the way you put forth you ideas.
