I realize that pit bulls have very powerful jaws but so do many other breeds. They are no more vicious than many other breeds. I was attacked by a ST. Bernard years ago. Does that mean we shouldn't have them in Ohio. My daughter was attacked by a coon hound mix when she was little. My mom had a poodle years ago that would bite. I know of a chihuahua (spelling) that bites. I know of a lab/golden that bites if provoked. Now does that mean all of these breeds need banned in Ohio. Have you ever seen the damage that a Rott or German Shep can do, I have. So should we ban them. Bottom line is that any breed of dog can be vicious if they are provoked and untrained. Any large breed dog can do serious damage when they attack. Pit bulls actually do not have a vicious temper. No more so that any other dog. They just can do more damage because of their strong jaws. That is why they use them for dog fights (which is sickening). I have had a pit mix since she was a puppy and that was 13 years ago. She has never bitten anyone or attempted to do so. She is a loving baby that I do and always have trusted her with our kids and grandkids. She licks them (kisses), sleeps with them, swims with them and you name it. You can take her food away from her at any time. She loves to share ice cream cones with the kids. She thinks she is a lap dog and loves stuffed animals. They are her babies. She knows when I am ill and checks on me all the time. How can the state of Ohio tell me I have to get rid of this precious dog who is like a child to us. What would this accomplish. That would be like loosing a child. I just wish Tyrone could spend one day with her and he would change his mind. He would fall in love with her as we have done for 13 years. Make owners of any breed vicious dogs accountable not a certain breed. How communistic. I will not get rid of my little girl.

I want to thank you Dick for starting the pet segment on Fox 8. I got to adopt my sweet little Pux from the Berea Animal Shelter because I saw him on one of your showings for pets. He is 14 years and his family gave him away because of his age. I had  to put my little Bo to sleep who was also 14 years because he was very ill. My heart was broken and I was having a hard time coping. That is when I saw Pux who looks so much like Bo did. I wrote a story about Pux and it was chosen as a runner up in the HillsPet.com/2ndchance contest. I sure hope he wins. He is such a great guy and we love him so much. Thank you Dick. Because of you we both got a second chance to be happy.

I use to work for a very nice resort in Huron years ago. I am here to tell you that even in the best resorts cleaning the glasses in the room sinks were standard. I do not know if they have changed their policy but believe me even back then it use to gross me out. They used the washcloths that were in the room to clean the glasses. Those glasses never left the rooms. They used the washcloths to scrub the toilet seats and the exterior of the toilets. I could tell you things that would make you never want to stay in a hotel ever again. It has been years since I worked there but I can't imagine it changing all that much. Being as I work as a cleaning maid and knew what went on in those rooms and how they were cleaned or suppose to be cleaned, I never drink from those glasses (I always take my own). I always ask for a clean pillow case because sometimes they didn't get changed. I always ask for clean towels because it the towels didn't look use they sometimes got left in the room as fresh linen. I always bring along a can of Lysol spray and spray the toilet seats, shower, sinks and counter tops also I bring along mite killing/cloth disinfectant sprays. Don't think I am going overboard because I DO know what goes on in those rooms. I had to clean up the mess that was left behind. I DO know how those rooms are not always cleaned. Just to let you know, the blankets and bedspreads are rarely ever changed. Never put your shoes and slippers under the beds or your luggage either.

I just want to let you all know that there are so many families out there that need a lot of help due to being flooded out. Many families have lost everything including their homes and cars. I have heard stories of men and women who can't get to work because they have no car to get there and no clothes to where. These peoples lives have literally been washed away. Shelby in Richland county and Findley are two of the hardest hit areas but there are others hit just as bad. These families need money, food, clothes, furniture, towels, personal items, medications and just about anything you can think of. Just look around your home and see what you have. This is what these people need. Don't forget the pets. Help out these people and pets. Give to the animal shelters and Red Cross to help them. They may get some assistance in the future but they need to live right now. Most insurances will not cover their homes and cars. Please help out with whatever you have to donate.

I don't think anyone was just out to crucify just anyone. The facts are that he inhumanely treated these dogs under his care. He used them to fight and abused them physically to get them to fight. If they didn't fight he inhumanely killed them. He is a monster and if he can treat a helpless dog in this manner then what is he capable of doing to another person. They need to lock all of them up and throw away the key. He doesn't deserve any fame or fortune no matter how good of a player he is. As far as the dogs that are left, those dogs need rehabilitated before being put back into society. They need to be put with a professional dog trainer. These dogs cannot be trusted as they are not to fight or attack. That is what they were raised and trained to do. If they can't be put with a professional then they unfortunately should be humanely put to sleep. It is a long slow process to retrain them into being a pet and not a killer. It can be done. People like Vick are criminals, just like rapist, murderers and abusers of children.

You are 100% correct when you say that pitbull dogs get negative publicity. You know that there are many other dogs that have a bad temper. I have had a mix pit for 12 years. She is such a joy to have and has never bitten anyone or even remotely tried to bite. She loves kids and all of the grandkids have slept with her since she was a pup. Any dog and I do repeat that ANY dog can be vicious by nature. It is all in how they are raised and treated. There are no bad dogs only bad owners. Pits have always gotten a bad rap because of the damage that they inflict due to their jaw muscles. There damage far exceeds many other breeds but in fact a lab can inflict the same amount of damage as a pit. I have seen it. A Golden Retrieve has a tendency to be snippy but is usually labeled a great family dog. They are because I had one. But he would snip from time to time unlike my pit mix. I have been around many Chihuahua's including my dads. They can be very nasty little dogs and inflict a painful bite that needs stitches and antibiotics. When taking medical training I saw a small child who was bitten in the face by one several time (they don't bite just once they keep going after you) and the child had to have it's lips nearly sewn back on and just missed the child's eye. But you didn't hear anything about this, not even in the local paper. Pits do really get a bad reputation mostly because of how they are treated and raised.

I don't understand why it has taken so long to form a search party and get it brought to the attention of the public about Gloria Walker missing. This is terrible to wait all this time to decide to do something to find her. I am sure the police have been on the job trying to find her but look at the publicity that Jesse Davis got right away. Why wasn't this done for Gloria? Maybe if someone knew about it when it first happened, she may have been found right away. So what is the difference between Jesse and Gloria? They are both women, mothers and missing.

Even though they didn't win tonight, the second half of the game was very good. They remind me of the old cardiac kids. I just hope they keep up the way they played in the third and fourth quarters and improve on that. Quinn looked positive. I was so impressed on how they protected him too. Way to go guys. That has always been the Browns major downfall. I am looking forward to see what the mighty Quinn brings to the team this year.

We were all praying for rain just a few weeks ago because of the drought situation. Now it seems all it does is rain. We sure have had strange weather this summer. We have had to have our pool filled once again this summer because of the lack of rain. Now this month it is overflowing. We had to water our gardens and flowers and now they are under water. It was on the cool side the beginning of summer and made it tough to go swimming or skiing. Now it has been more like summer but all in one week.

Thanks to Dick's dogs, we adopted a sweet precious little boy. I can't wait to get him home this coming week. He has to have some vet work done but he will be coming home this week. I just can't believe how people for no good reason can throw away a wonderful pet. Their loss, our gain. What an addition he will make to our family. Thank you so much Berea Animal Shelter.

Instead of leaving your faithful bloggers to wonder why they had been blocked from blogging, you Fox 8 could have let us know what was going on and why. It seems to me I was not the only one who assumed that I had done something to be blocked for. It never hurts to inform the public of a change or a problem that has occurred. HMMMMMMMMMM, wow did I just inform a news channel of the need to inform the public who watches them or blogs with them? How about that. I just think that would have been the best way to handle the situation. Hope you got your problems ironed out. I am looking forward to blogging once again and getting through the same night/day.

I wonder how many of you are blocked from posting a blog until it is approved in 24 hours. I am sure I did nothing to be blocked from blogging. I hope I have in no way said anything to offend anyone. My blogs are usually idle chat. If I have said anything out of line I would hope that the person I offended would tell me. I think it is unfair that I am blocked from blogging with you. I have to wait an entire day to respond to your blogs. What is going on?????

I can't wait until football starts. I just seems like it has been such a long time since we got to watch football. Go Browns. I hope we have a good season. I am not looking for a great one but will settle for a good one. I predict we will win 4 maybe 5 games this season.
