I received an interesting email (below is some of it ) and couldn't help but wonder if it IS true...  But it certainly gave food for thought:

John Glenn (DEMOCRAT) said this ----- It should make you think a little:

There were 39 combat related killings in Iraq in January. In the fair city of Detroit there were 35 murders in the month of January. That's just one American city, about as deadly as the entire war-torn country of Iraq.

When some claim that President Bush shouldn't have started this war, state the following:

FDR (DEMOCRAT) led us into World War II. Germany never attacked us ; Japan did. From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost .. an average of 112,500 per year.

Truman (DEMOCRAT) finished that war and started one in Korea.  North Korea never attacked us From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost .. an average of 18,334 per year.

John F. Kennedy (DEMOCRAT) started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never attacked us.

Johnson (DEMOCRAT) turned Vietnam into a quagmire.  From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost . an average of 5,800 per year.

Clinton (DEMOCRAT) went to war in Bosnia without UN or French consent.  Bosnia never attacked us.  He was offered Osama bin Laden's head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions.

In the years since terrorists attacked us , President Bush has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Libya , Iran , and, North Korea without firing a shot, and captured a terrorist who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people. And the Democrats are complaining about how long the war is taking.

It took less time to take Iraq than it took Janet Reno (DEMOCRAT) to take the Branch Davidian compound.  That was a 51-day operation..

We've been looking for evidence for chemical weapons in Iraq for less time than it took Hillary Clinton (DEMOCRAT) to find the Rose Law Firm billing records

It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard than it took Ted Kennedy to call the police after his Oldsmobile sank at Chappaquiddick.

It took less time to take Iraq than it took to count the votes in Florida!!!

Sorry, but if you're gonna fight, fight to win. Like we used to before Korea. All "wars" like Iraq, etc. do is waste lives, money and make some folks richer.

I don't care which group started which war. Either fight, or forget about it.

That my friend will never happen as long as you have stinking politians running battle from behind their desk instead of ppl that should be running it.

Yep. We hire generals to run the wars, let's let them do their jobs.

Whoa. I have to sit down. The spin is just making me too dizzy.

It's amazing how Republicans can try to make so much chicken $#!^ into chicken salad.

Can you say "grasping at straws?" Nine more months of this dribble. woo-hoooo.

You'd better watch yourself. Posting stuff like that will get you branded as a "neocon" just as yours truly has been.

Welcome aboard!

I believe the US military death toll was higher during the Clinton years, than it is during the Bush years to date.

PLEASE correct me if I am wrong!

Thanks, Freak...I think. But if I'm ever branded as a neocon, dubya is a genius.

OK, Frank, I'll be happy to correct you.

Military death statistics are separated into two categories: combat-related and "all-causes" which also include accidents, illness, suicide, terrorism (not within the realm of combat duty), etc....

There are actually more non-combat related deaths in the US military than combat-only deaths. Some media sources of certain political persuasions have conveniently compared the Clinton administration's "all-causes" stat with Bush's combat-only related stat, and inaccurately declared that Clinton's total was much higher.

The truth is that the "all-causes" death toll under the entire Clinton administration was approximately 7,500, whereas the "all-causes" toll under Bush as of Memorial Day 2007, a little over six years into his presidency, had reached 9,550 and was growing faster every year.

All of this is available under the Freedom of Information Act. However many will take whatever smack is thrown out at them as the complete and accurate truth.

Also, is any of this relevant to why we should or should not be in Iraq? Not really. But it needs to be pointed out as just another glaring example of the spin-machine that is the media right.

Thank you Floyd! I've always enjoyed reading what you've written, so I guess there could be a lot worse things than being categorized with you! :-)

Most emails of this nature I realize are written to be inflammatory, but it did get my brain going:

Doesn't history have a way of repeating itself?

And if so, exactly HOW different will the promised changes from the Democrats be?

Bless you! I appreciate the kind words. Don't tell that to Yellowdog, MoonOwl, or my buddy FTP.

Get ready for the aforementioned "change" which will manifest itself disguised as higher taxes as Osama takes from the hard workers and gives to the deadbeats (that is the definition of "democrat"). They do it to buy votes - something aking to prostitution.

I have no doubt that Osama's foreign-relations policies ("negotiating" with terrorists) will make the world LESS safe and will further "embolden" the bad guys. The libs love to use that word in the context of Iraq - that somehow our presence there has "created" terrorists. That is also pure bunk.

Keep the faith, Bradleys. Keep fighting the good fight. Don't ever give up. Truth and common sense will eventually win out.

BTW: GREAT post!

God bless.

We have watched Good Day Tampa Bay and Fox News 13 since it became Fox many, many years ago. I've lived on this coast since 1982 but hail from Horse Country, TN. In RL I not only run two websites, but am researching a compilation work for publication (I can disappear for days in my books!) I work with wildlife (naturally Cynthia Smoot is one of my fave journalists!) and I like to participate in the "wildlife" here on the Blogs - a little human interaction is a refreshing change on occasion. However, hiding behind a monitor does not give one license to be rude; personal attacks reveal their maker's own inadequacies and insecurities as a speaker. (Is that the best ya' got???) Thoughts and opinions may differ (thank God for choice as Americans!), but the more reasonable a differing opinion sounds, the more likely the listener is to consider it fairly. Be safe, be fair, be nice - and most importantly, don't run with scissors. They haven't invented downloadable bandaids yet.
