I forgot to engage my brain before opening my mouth and announced to the entire family that I'd be thrilled to have my 3 little grandsons (all under the age of 7) spend the weekend with me.  When my babies were young, we found a lot of things to do at little or no cost.  But I've been out of the loop for awhile.  I could really use some practical suggestions on fun and interesting things to do in the Tampa Bay area that won't wipe out my retirement fund.

Many Thanks,

    Granny V

Free? Take them to the beach. Look for a park with swings or other kiddie things. With a child's discount there are several great places to go. MOSI and Imax theatre. Lowry Park Zoo. Tampa Aquarium. Take a trolley ride from Ybor City. Kids love MacDonalds play areas and meals. Go to Chucky Cheese. At home, cartoons and kiddy movies hold them spellbound [for a while, anyway].

Go to the beach, to the park, to a playground, take them on a picnic. Ride bikes, roller skating, take a walk. Let them play outside. Bake a cake, cookies, brownies or cupcakes. Do a craft, start a scrapbook. Learn a new song or teach them an old one that you remember. Talk about your past and tell them of your childhood. Watch an old movie, watch Boomerang, Seseme Street or Mr. Rodgers. Go to the library. Read them a story or let them make up their own. Have a puppet show, a tea party or a teddy bear's picnic or make mud pies. Get to know them and let them know you.

There's are tons of things to do if you just think about them.

Rustybird and Leasheryn are right. Take those kids to the beach or playground. Then, after you are tired of watching them, take them home, put them in the tub, and into their pajamas, then to bed. Thats it, day over, same thing tomorrow. Oh yeah, give them each a peanut butter sandwich and some koolaid, enough said. The end.

Granny V.

Tell them stories about you when you were young, what your favorite shows on Tv or the radio were, your favorite cowboy, comedian. Dig out those photo's you've had in the closet all those years, how about some of those outfits you wore and kept, how about those school year books, They would be fun for all of you....
