What is the Worst Road?

What is the worst road in the area?  I read Floyd Freak's post and I don't travel Hwy 60, but I do occasionally take Nebraska into downtown.  What a rough ride that is!  There are some potholes out there that can completely alter the frame of your car if you aren't careful.  There's also one on Thonotosassa Road that's a real doozy.  What about trying to make your way down Busch, or the part of Waters Avenue that hasn't quite been upgraded to match the newer parts? 

I would love to know what other people think is the worst road in Hillsborough County.  Oh, and if we had a contest, do you think our Department of Transportation might pay some attention to that worst road?

Good post, valeka. However, your question would be much like asking, "What's the worst beer in America?" I mean there are just SO many lousy roads (an beers). And there are different criteria that each respondent would use to rate a given road.

Some roads (like SR60 - I've driven Nebraska and it s***s, too) are lousy due to poor (or non-existent) maintenance. Others (the Bayside Bridge in Pinellas) s**k because of what I call "P**S-POOR Engineering" - just terrible design that causes traffic snarls.

To illustrate the Bayside Bridge scenario, try driving it southbound during the morning rush and get off at Roosevelt. That interchange is an abomination! A fifth-grader could have done a better job engineering that.

The SR60/Veterans/Tampa Airport interchange is a textbook example of how NOT to build a highway. Fortunately, they are fixing it. Now if I can just live long enough to see it completed.

Speaking of the Veterans' Expressway - I've blogged about it before. But WHO on God's green earth would design an expressway in a major metropolitan area with only TWO lanes in each direction???

Yeah. I used to push a 20 foot delivery box from St. Pete to Hudson, and I've seen some really whacky antics, not to mention some looped out Q-tips, and half blind trailer bats.

What is the worse road?

Pinellas County. Park Boulevard. West bound right after Seminole Boulevard and before 113th Street, 5 o'clock traffic.

Why?

The ill-timed light at Johnson Boulevard.

Cars sit in the intersection, fully blocking Johnson Boulevard traffic Monday through Friday. With any luck, you only sit through two lights before an alert Park Boulevard motorist remembers that drivers are not supposed to park in the middle of intersections.

It's been like that for years.

Worse Road?

US HWY 19 (mostly in Pasco County) I drive it like a video game, never know when something is coming out to get ya. Takes lots of concentration! Been doing good so far at the game (knock on wood)! Ha Ha
