I absolutly can not stand the media!!  Americans are sad when a person goes missing but does the media report it? NO!! Americans are so hypocritical! Me being one too. we say we don't care about paris hilton but we obviously do because it make headlines more than missing people do. A reporter said yesterday that she is tired of all the Paris Hilton crap but yet her own dang news station is doing stories on her!! Instead of worrying about what Paris or Lindsey Lohan or Brittany spears is doing ( like getting drunk and going in and out of rehab and going into jail) and start looking  harder for missing people and bring our soldiers home safe and hearing about the soldiers who gave their life for our freedom too!!!  This is just my opinion.

But, what the media is not telling us, is really news. Most convicts don't get time off for good behavior until they are committed for incarceration. So, how is it that the SNITTY little rich goyle got time off for good behavior a month before she was to report?

.

You have to remember, the media is out to sell papers and air time. And that's all they care about. They don't even have to tell the truth, and don't most of the time.

Nov. 8, 2005 — In her first interview since being fired, former CBS News producer Mary Mapes maintains that her controversial "60 Minutes II" story on President Bush's National Guard service was "true" and that "no one has proved that the documents were not authentic."

Mapes was fired after an independent panel found her basic reporting was "faulty."
In her interview with ABC News chief investigative correspondent Brian Ross, " Mapes says she is unrepentant about her role. "I don't think I committed bad journalism. I really don't," she says.

Mapes tells Ross she feels in no way responsible for what happened at CBS News in the wake of her "60 Minutes II" report.

She tells Ross that she had no journalistic obligation to prove the authenticity of the documents before including them in the "60 Minutes II" report. "I don't think that's the standard to which I must adhere to," she said.

She gets the story from the Kerry Presidential Campaign Staff during an election season, Ignores the PROOF ( created on a computer word processor that didn’t exist in the 60s and 70s ) that the Documents are FORGED, then says that making an effort to report the TRUTH is NOT a standard..

Remember , SHE isn’t the ONLY one doing this..She’s just the only one who got caught..

My point in bringing up this story was to demonstrate that NOT everyone in the Media is interrested in selling airtime or papers,,SOME are dedicated to peddling Political Ideaology or agendas...at ALL cost.....

As a past reporter I felt there were ALWAYS 2 sides to every story and that it was MY responsibility to get both sides and all the facts that I could gather.
That being said, don't confuse "anchor" folks with the reporters.
In my opinion that is how every reporter should strive for. Unfortunately there are those few who just don't care about getting both sides and the truth. In today's society I often ask myself is this true? Does it have a political slant? Unfortunately most average citizens just take for granted that what the media is reporting is the whole truth and the whole story. Which is a very dangerous way to be. Question the media, and always remember there are 2 sides to all stories.

A former news director of mine used to have a philosophy of "Give the people what they want."

A second former news director of mine had a different philosophy: "We are in the truth business."

I think what you see on TV, online, and in print is a reflection of the clashing of those two mantras.

There IS another,,"Give the people what WE want"

That is the one that makes the old adage,
" They can't say it if it isn't true" Obsolete...

Even though, you hate the media,it will always be there. The media is there for a reason,to report the news of the world and nation.
How else would you find out what going on in the world or nation.

VBJ, I agree wholeheartedly... I actually just posted nearly the very same thing on my myspace blog... LOL

"In the truth business .. my butt" Although FOX is not as eggregious as the others, I have seen the story of Paris' therapist's visit MORE than once today on FOX... Yet, I have not seen ONE piece on a Hero who gave his life in OIF or OEF today or one Hero who was injured protecting the lives of innocent kids...

hmmmmmmmmm

Whatever you do, don't blame the anchors. Do you really think John Wilson wants to do yet another story about this ditzy tart?

Perhaps the transition from responsible reporting to "bald face" sensationalism has been too gradual for many to take notice of it. The Media has degenerated to "Tabloid" status in less time than a single generation. "The Old Gray Lady" (N.Y. Times) is now little more the "National Inquirer" for accuracy or objective reporting. You want news? Try the "Drudge Report" with over 80 wire and news services world-wide...www.drudge report.com.

Yep, PLEASE don't blame the anchors for what they are told to tell us about. For the most part anchors are figures who don't actually "get" the story. They just "air" it.
