Based on using the actual tax tables (see link below), here are some examples on what the taxes were/are on various amounts of income for both singles and married couples. So let's see if the Bush tax cuts only helped the rich.

tml

Taxes under Clinton 1999                 Taxes under Bush 2008

Single making 30K - tax $8,400           Single making 30K - tax $4,500

Single making 50K - tax $14,000         Single making 50K - tax $12,500

Single making 75K - tax $23,250         Single making 75K - tax $18,750

Married making 60K - tax $16,800       Married making 60K- tax $9,000

Married making 75K - tax $21,000       Married making 75K - tax $18,750

Married making 125K - tax $38,750     Married making 125K - tax $31,250

If you want to know just how effective the mainstream media is, it is amazing how many people that fall into the categories above think Bush is screwing them and Bill Clinton was the greatest President ever.  If any democrat is elected, ALL of them say they will repeal the Bush tax cuts and a good portion of the people that fall into the categories above can't wait for it to happen.  This is like the movie the Sting w ith Paul Newman, you scam somebody out of some money and they don't even know what happened. Now this is effective (maybe not honest) marketing or maybe a better word is brain washing.

You are not comparing Apples and Apples, Gas price's was cheaper under George Bush Sr than Clinton...
The issue of gasoline prices I believe is congress, Why are we allowing BP ( British Petroleum) to pump our oil out of Alaska, what are we getting out of it (The Shaft) are we going to hit the oil companys hard with taxes on massive profits they are bragging about, inflated prices; or are our politcians going to put there blinders on and ignore the issue and continue to lie and screw the population of the US.

Ah!! you got it right. It's all the politicians, not just the Liberals or Conservatives. Yep, we'll continue to get screwed until, using our votes, we limit them all to one term.

Something I have been saying for a long time, they get to comfortable in their leather chairs, terms should be established and performance should play a role in who should stay or go.
There are some good politicians; but! because of the bad apples and peer pressures they sometimes have to perform in such away that they don't get boy-cotted by the bad apples, Those good politicains could become great leaders that we need to have run this country.

Tax wise, there is no doubt we are better off with Bush's taxes. Oil and Gasoline is sadly, something that we cant control the price of, with one exception. That is to build more refineries so we have more of a supply, thus lowering local prices.(local meaning US) We haven't built a new refinery in 30 years because the green lobby blocks the attempts. Same for nuke plants. Clean and cheap yet we cant get new ones built. Sorry for the tangent but that explains the prices at the pump.

your table says it all..democrat or republican..read it and see it. as far as the gas prices..well maybe if we got our own oil from our own country for ourselves..just a simple thought..

Niether Clinton or Bush have set the oil prices, it's set by OPEC, who in turn is screwing the rest of the world...

One day we are going to see the Middle East drown in their oil and I hope I'm around to see it.
And I hope the US doesn't go to their aid too bail them out when there economy sink's just like our economy is today.
