I attended a Rays game last night and it struck me that our national pastime, baseball (with a beer, a dog and crackerjacks), has become global. This may say a lot about our faltering economy, balance of trade, the cheap commie Chinese junk we buy and the other ills from which we suffer.

This "one world BLEEP" has gone too far!

We have a guy named Akinori Iwamura playing for our team and the evil Cubbies have a star player named Kosuke Fukudome playing for them. What happened to great names like Cobb, Ruth, Dimaggio, Mantle and Howard Cossell?

When the great American game of baseball has a star player, idolized by thousands, named BLEEP-U-DO-ME, then folks, we are in trouble as a proud country.

What next? Will football be taken over by a bunch of fat guys who wear diapers and smack into each other with their bus sized bellies?

The horror of it all!

It must be the fault of "you know who" His legacy may not survive this one.

Just thank play station, when was the last time you drove by a ball field or a park and saw a group of kids playing a pick up game of baseball that was not part of little league.

I know at one time in this country that a name like Dimaggio was offencive to some people. It's people like you who used to say "Those damned Italians! How dare they take over our great national game!"

Grow up YD!

This is America after all and I don't see those guys forcing you to watch Sumo! They are doing what we ask of all those coming to this country. That is formost, become Americans! I for one am proud to have that kind of person in this country. No matter what their name is!

Shame on you YD!

Oh, grow up stang.

The name Fukudome got my little brain spinning, imagining the chant BLEEP-U-DO-ME" throughout ball parks across America.

If you failed to notice the name Cossell, then obviously you're still hitting the grog and you missed the entire bit of humor...you DO have one, don't you (a sense of humor, that is)?

The next thing you know a bunch of Croatians will take over basketball or Jamaican's may take up bobsledding.

Thanks for your welcoming on the Tampa Bay site. However as you see it was a set up by D/F to discredit me on that site for some reason, but no worries I contacted the Tampa Bay News Team and they will fix it. Why someone has to do this I have no idea, but I have enjoyed reading what many of you had to say and I intend on popping back in when the matter is cleared, so heads up on the set up. Games unfortunately are not over yet. Again, thank you your kind words.

YD,

Your humor was a bit hidden in your rant. If there was humor in there, I didn't see it. I'm sure glad they dont ask people their lastnames before telling them it's ok to play sports here.

YOU grow up, and stop moaning about people's names and worrying about where they come from. Last I looked, most of America was from somewhere else at one time! Remember, if it weren't for German's you wouldn't have that hotdog and if it weren't for Native American's, you wouldn't have the popcorn in your Crackerjacks!
