A  veteran Hillsborough County Deputy was arrested for using his taser on his wife (three times to the stomach) during an argument. He was also charged with holding his handgun to her head.

What a sweetheart.

Can you imagine being married to an abusive spouse who also is proficient with a taser and a gun?

It a great thing that this creep is in jail and hopefully this will be cause for his immediate termination and the revocation of his law enforcement certification.

This guy is a threat to anyone who provokes his ire.

I'm going to quibble just a bit here, Your Dogness, pointing a firearm at a spouse during an argument is not what I would call "proficient" use of a firearm.

Proficiency conveys both skill and aptitude. I kinda think both were missing from this deputy. His skill at solving interpersonal problems was lacking, and his aptitude for knowing when to deploy the firearm was also lacking.

Contrast that with the homeowner who grabbed his firearm, confronted a would-be burglar in his back yard, and who fired two warning shots as the man approached him menacingly, thus stopping the threat. He would have been 100 percent within his rights to shoot the intruder, but he simply held him for police.

I am sure he sleeps better at night knowing he didn't take a life yet he succeeded in ending the threat to himself and his family.

Having said that, if the Deputy story is true and if his wife did not threaten his life, the man has destroyed his law enforcement career.

Almost makes you scared to even call a cop anymore now don't it? There are so many good cops out there that serve and protect us and then you get this one piece of trash that just wants to abuse his authority just because he can. Drunk or not nothing gives him the right to use any of his weapons on an innocent person, espically when it is his WIFE!! Hope he never gets the opportunity to hold a gun again. Sounds like a real hothead.

Unfortunately this is the type of things that has caused WAY TOO MANY to not call the cops when one is needed....

I hope for the safety of his Family and the rest of the people he WAS SUPPOSE TO PROTECT.... the judge throws the BOOK at him!!!

Did you see today that she was before Heinrich and pleading for the judge to let her devoted hubby return home?
Do you know how many women do this? Lots of them. They come in with broken bones and bruises to get an DV injunction and then they turn right around and beg for the judge to dismiss it.
And Heinrich stuck to his guns and told her NO WAY! Good for you judge!

Battered wives are caught in an emotional roller coaster which makes them unable to kick the sorry bastards out sometimes. My son-in-law is a great guy and would never harm my daughter. BUT, He knows that it he did, I would come looking for him. If other fathers did the same, I'll bet be abuse would decline..

I see the deputy is being evaluated for a "health condition". Law Enforcement is a stressful job and he may have snapped and is otherwise a good guy. Who knows?

The problem is : he could have "snapped" when he pulled us over for speeding.

I know the SO keeps a close eye on their troops to look for psychological problems. This one may have slipped by?

We really should not judge the guy until we have all the facts.

He could be a pycho powerfreak or a very burnt out cop. Either way, it's time to find another career for him.

There's only one thing that aggravates me more than a hotheaded cop...

...a woman that doesn't know when to SHUT UP!
